She learned long ago that the best way to dispel the darkness of an unknown future is to provide information that can help a low-vision person cope with sight loss. To that end, she founded and currently directs Vision World Wide, Inc. One of the vehicles Vision World Wide, Inc. The how-to and information pieces are written by men and women who have experienced sight loss firsthand, and under Pat's masterful editing, the magazine is alive with timely information designed to help its readers enhance both their remaining vision and their lives.

The Wisdom Center - The Uncommon Achiever (E-Book)

While Pat's many achievements are impressive indeed, she would be the last to suggest she has accomplished all she has single handedly. Her husband Marvin has been a tremendous support to her for more than 40 years. The two met when he was assigned to help Pat solve some on-the-job logistical and technical problems. He was her rehabilitation counselor at the time. As Pat recalls, "He solved my typing problems in short order. That was the end of it for several years. The rest is history. Pat succeeds in marriage the way she has succeeded in her life of tremendous service -- by paying attention to the details.

Sometimes it is small gifts, a nice dinner out, etc. When we were first married, it often was a hot dog and pork and beans by candlelight. It's been a great 43 years, believe me! While Vision World Wide consumes much of her time these days, service to blind and visually impaired people has always been a vital part of Pat's life.

She currently serves as the web master and treasurer of Library Users of America, an affiliate of the American Council of the Blind. She and her husband founded the American Council of the Blind of Indiana and Pat has served in a variety of positions with the group. In the early '90s, Pat completed three terms as national secretary of the American Council of the Blind headquartered in Washington, D.

Pat has been a part of the Lighthouse International Advisory Committee and chaired a governor-appointed advisory committee at the Indiana School for the Blind. She has co-founded and served in a variety of capacities with numerous special interest groups of the American Council of the Blind. While her service to organizations representing visually impaired people is significant, it is just part of who this dynamic woman is.

She currently serves as a Virginia M. Woolf Foundation board member. She's been the membership chair and treasurer of the Indiana Policyholders Service Association, and she was president of the Indianapolis Insurance Women's Association. She continues to edit a variety of newsletters and magazines in addition to her work as managing editor of Vision Enhancement.

Being a Christian and also being in a position to render a helping hand may not be the only reason Ubah has focused on constructing and restoring places of worship for his brethren. This is evident because Ubah had in the past built even mosques for the Muslim faithful. All these go a long way to confirm his level of religious tolerance.

He is a firm apostle of religious tolerance, unity and love. Many had thought that the benevolence of Ubah would wane and wither after he failed to win the Anambra State governorship election.

Uncommon achievers soar like eagles

But instead, with the sustenance of his foundation aimed at improving the living standards of people across the country, it is obvious he is just getting started. Interestingly, the personality of Ubah is one that finds no benefit in blowing his trumpet. His good deeds, contributions and kind hearted nature will not only continue to speak for him but act as a remembrance and indelible legacy. Nigeria is in dire need of persons like Ubah, persons who would use their resources to make the society a better place, propel innovation and creativity among youths, cultivate the mentality of hard work and healthy practices alongside upholding positive outlook on life.

As many patiently wait for the completion of the cathedral in his hometown, the prayer is for him to continue soaring on eagle's wings, to live life to the fullest, continue acting as a pragmatic mentor and foremost inspiration to his innumerable loyal admirers, and for his safety to rest only in God's hands. Ubah is a man with a humble beginning raised by a principled and disciplinarian teacher.

To many, the best of Ubah is yet to emerge. As part of his continued effort to reduce the unemployment rate in Anambra State and beyond, he is currently building a games village at his country home. The on-going project, which he says will be built to international standard, will have over rooms, over six football pitches, lawn tennis court, among others.

Ubah would rather use his to affect the lives of the less-privileged persons. For Ubah, wealth is useless if it is not used to propagate the gospel as well as assist the less privileged people in the society to actualise their God-given potentials. Ubah has not relented on that which motivated him to establish Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation. The principle of the foundation is to contribute to human development potentials of the people of Anambra State and beyond, by assisting in the provision of basic services. Since it was founded, the Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation has inspired and supported inclusive partnerships with communities in which it operates, to address the systemic causes of socio-economic problems.
